A few weeks
ago, I asked my daughter’s transporter why she was always late. She complained
of the traffic congestion, inability to
locate the children quickly and at times children being detained in school for
a variety of reasons. That prompted me to seek further information from other
transporters if they were facing similar problems. No one would have expected
that from this very minor issue, I ended up as PIBG Chairman for the 2014-2015
period.
I must say
I was ill prepared for PIBG responsibilities even with my past experience as
Chairman of different condos, Director of a public listed company and many
years as a lawyer .
The keenly
contested elections for office bearers in the last 2 years showed that parents
were keen to participate in PIBG affairs.
The outcome of the most recent election reflected the wishes of the
voters namely, parents wanted a greater
degree of transparency (financial or
otherwise ) and teachers preferred to work with parents who have a track record
of working with them. There is no reason why these goals cannot be achieved as
they are not contradictory .
I welcome on board other successful candidates
including those nominated by the school. Congratulations to you all and I look
forward to working together for a better tomorrow.
Thank you
Sydney and your team for setting up all the infrastructure to enable the
incoming Chairman the facility to reach out to our constituents . Thanks for engaging Rela as well , hopefully
my daughter will reach home in time for lunch.
I will try
to report regularly once I officially assume the Chairmanship.
Happy
holidays

Ken Koo,
I would like to congratulate you being elected as chairman of PIBG, however, you don’t need to use your daughter and transporter to justify you being elected in the AGM.
The Parents can see your pre planned intention cause your name appeared in the little sheet of menu with all 2013 AJK nam, you and the chartered accountant Loh is so obviously putting up a drama during the AGM.
No matter how, I think you are a better person and more competence to be YDP compare to Sydney Mak.
I hope you be more sincere and care for the school, please do not make this same mistake again, otherwise you will loose your credibility as YDP.
Grace
Grace, it is very clear who is sincere and who is not in this school. Every parent has the right and qualified to become the committee and HM/teachers should not interfere but welcome n provide full support to any new committee.
Sydney Mak and her team have done their part well giving such a short time to carry out their duties. Nothing is more important than focusing on children's welfare, and this is what PIBG suppose to be. There should not be any political or personal interest here.
To parents, as long as the committee is looking into the welfare of our children and practises TRANSPARENCY, they have our mandate to manage the funds accordingly to the benefit of our children. Unfortunately when financial matters were queried during the AGM, some previous committee started to jump up and start shouting. Parent didn't make any accusation, it was just a query.
Anyway, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sydney and her team for their good work. At the same time congrats to newly elected chairman, Mr. Ken Koo and his new team.
Best wishes,
Mdm Tan
